Ceiling
This concept functions not only in construction. But when it comes to this context, the ceiling is a horizontal element of the structure, which is designed to separate the individual storeys of the building. The ceiling transfers the load to the vertical elements. Two of these elements are mentioned. They are walls and columns. As for the top surface of the element in question, which is the ceiling - the floor is laid on it. On the other hand, when it comes to the bottom surface - it usually serves as this, which is covered with plaster. This is how a ceiling is formed. The ceiling has many functions. It is impossible to list all of them. The following are considered the most important: the purpose of the ceiling is to carry the permanent load. It is a question of self-weight, as well as the weight of partition walls. As for the attic - it carries the weight of the roof truss. In addition, the ceiling is supposed to kind of increase the rigidity of the erected building. It also limits the spread of fire, protects a given room against sounds penetrating it. Another feature, what the ceiling does, is the transmission of so-called payloads. This is, for example, about furnishing a given room, the weight of the furniture, or the goods stored there, and also people, that are in it.
