Specially prepared Fakro roof and elbow windows, as well as an appropriate assembly system with the use of additional assembly accessories, provide very good thermal insulation and tightness parameters, which allows them to be used in passive construction. Pivot windows, as well as L-shaped windows, have been equipped with a special double glazing – super-energy-saving glass. It is a two-chamber glass, which includes one 4mm thick tempered glass (internal glass), and two 4 mm thick toughened glass panes made of low-emission glass (edge panes). In this set, the low-emission coating is placed on the two outermost panes and faces the inside of the glazing unit. Both inter-pane spaces are po 10 mm and are filled with noble gas – krypton.
A warm TGI spacer was used in the highly energy-efficient insulated glass. The basic material of the TGI profile is plastic-polypropylene, covered with a very thin metal coating. The metal layer prevents gas diffusion and, thanks to its small thickness, is characterized by low heat conductivity. Such a combination of both materials, plastic and metal, and the appropriate shape guarantees high tightness and low thermal transmittance through the TGI frame.
Such a structure of the glazing unit allows for excellent energy-saving parameters U = 0.5 W /(m2K). The use of a super-energy-efficient insulated glass to a large extent reduces heat loss. Specially designed thicker sash frame, in which the glass is embedded allows for deeper insertion of the super-energy-saving glass. The wooden wing frame is approx 30% thicker than in a standard sash, which improves the thermal insulation coefficient of the entire window.
Windows used in a passive house must be very tight in terms of air permeability, therefore they do not have ventilators. The entire air exchange in the building takes place mechanically through re-buyers, which recover heat energy from the removed air and heat the fresh air supplied to the building.
In Fakro windows, a triple system of seals is used at the junction of the sash with the frame. Seals used in super-energy-efficient windows are made of propylene TP / EPDM rubber. They are characterized by high flexibility and elasticity, which makes them feel better, ensuring tightness and additionally reducing heat loss.
The Fakro roof window installation system provides all types of windows with perfect tightness to both rainwater and moisture, which could dampen the thermal insulation material and thus reduce the thermal insulation parameters of the attic.
The roof windows are tightly connected to the knee windows with the EU sealing flange, made of aluminum sheet. It is available in two types, allowing the installation of the roof window at two different depths in the roof structure: N (+3cm)
i V (0). In this case, a deeper recess of the window into the roof surface was used (depth V) allows for better insulation around the window. The EU flashing is universal and enables the installation of a roof window in most roof coverings (flat and profiled with a profile height up to 90 mm). Installation range for roofs with a slope of 15 ° to 55 °. In this solution, the collar has been painted in a color from the RAL palette to match it to the entire woodwork.
The XDS vapor barrier collar is used to tightly connect the foil to the roof window. It is made of polyethylene foil. As an element of the Fakro system, it is ideally suited to the size of roof windows. The foil is installed from the inside of the room as a water vapor barrier, because any dampness of the insulating wool leads to a significant decrease in its thermal insulation properties.
The XDP vapor-permeable collar used in the installation is used to connect the window with the vapor-permeable foil used in the roof structure. The sides of the collar are adapted for easy and tight fitting around the battens. The element is made of the highest quality Eurotop vapor-permeable membrane. Sheep wool thermal insulation material is available in the collar package, which is used to make thermal insulation between the battens around the window. The sheep wool included with the XDP collar is specially impregnated, has optimal density and high elasticity, making it perfect as a thermal insulation material.
