WINDOWS IN A PASSIVE BUILDING

In architecture that uses the energy of solar radiation in a planned manner, it is important to arrange the windows properly. Correct layout of their settings, Choosing the right type and size of windows is very important and may result in a reduction in energy demand for space heating.

Window passivity in Polish climate conditions (temperate climate) three factors provide:
• niskie straty ciepła przez szyby (provided e.g.. through the use of a two-chamber glazing unit with two low-emission layers and a "warm" spacer between the panes);
• wysoka izolacyjność ram okien;
• szczelność zamontowanych okien oraz odpowiedni system montażu z zastosowaniem właściwych akcesoriów montażowych podnoszących termoizolacyjność połączenia okien z połacią dachową.

The window cannot be a source of large losses, and at the same time it must provide access to solar energy necessary for lighting and ensuring energy gains. The heat loss coefficient Uo of passive windows is lower than 0,8 W/(m2 • K). An important consequence of such a low value of the heat loss coefficient is the high temperature of the inner surface of the glass, not less than 17 ° C. The result is the provision of thermal comfort conditions in the room right next to the window, no feeling of cold at the window and no cold air zone below the window, above the floor. The condition of maintaining a minimum temperature of 17 ° C of the internal pane is recognized as a criterion for the passivity of the window in all climatic conditions.
