Sulphate-slag cement

Sulphate-slag cement

As a result of using an increased amount of gypsum and blast furnace slag in the production of sulphate-slag cement, this cement. after hydration. it contains much less calcium hydroxide and is therefore highly resistant to aggressive factors. However, its serious disadvantage is its aggressiveness towards steel, which excludes the possibility of using it for reinforced concrete (the most common form of using concrete). However, it is particularly useful for the construction of concrete massifs unreinforced with steel in offshore construction and for foundations exposed to sulphate aggression.. It must not be mixed with other cements, because it can lead to a reduction in strength and swelling of the concrete. Currently, sulphate-slag cement is not produced in Poland.
