Cement storage
Bagged cements should be stored in closed warehouses. They are to be sealed and dry, and in winter, as far as possible, heated. Cement should be stacked in this order, that the oldest cement is always used.
If cement is stored for a short time (do 10 days), it is enough to store it in the open air, under the roof, with protection against rainfall and rainwater tassels (e.g. by covering with tarpaulin mats).
Cement bags are multi-layered (4 or 6), to hinder the diffusion of moisture, when transported by waterways, bags made of bituminous paper or foil are used.
Bulk cement is stored in special steel tanks (silos), adapted to pneumatic charge- and landing. Such silos are equipped with devices enabling the control of the amount of cement. The type of cement stored in each case should be clearly marked on the silos.
In order to avoid mistakes in the use of bagged cement, Common cement bags are marked not only descriptively, but also with colored stripes different for each type of cement.
